Give Respect, Get Respect and Promoting Positive Sidelines

Conahy Shamrocks GAA Club and Conahy Camogie Club promote the Give Respect, Get Respect initiative. See more information here

It is important to take time to remember the impact that we as adults can have on our young players' development, enjoyment and participation.

Positive behaviour, messages and a good example from adults on the sidelines can have a huge influence on everyone's experience of our games.

Please take the time to reflect and to consider the below advice so that we can all play our part in creating positive experiences for all young players, coaches, referees, umpires, parents and spectators.

  • Focus your praise on effort, not on talent.
  • Value everyone involved in our games.
  • Be positive and kind, children will imitate so lead by example!
  • Be aware of the tone of your voice and keep control of your emotions.
  • Allow for mistakes, they are proof of trying and how we learn.
  • Applaud good performance and hard work, regardless of result!
Remember:

  • Show respect to all.
  • Referees are HUMAN and coaches are VOLUNTEERS
  • This is a time of development for players and referees.
  • Compliments build confidence.
Our words matter! Tá tábhacht lenár bhfocail!

Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí! Praise the youth and they will flourish!
