CAMOGIE
The under-16 camogie girls were desperately unlucky to lose out to Clara in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League Final in Jenkinstown on Friday night last. In a high scoring game, Conahy were well on top in the opening half and led by 2-8 to 0-5 at half-time. However, the Clara girls fought back in the second half and managed to take the lead. Goals from Aoibhe Dunne and Mary Lou Rowe late in the game looked to have snatched back the lead for Conahy on two occasions, but Clara managed to reply each time, and with the final play of the game, they scored another goal to take the victory on a 4-15 to 5-9 score line. Hard luck to all the Conahy girls after a great performance, along with their management team of Christy Kennedy, Amy Bryan, Aine Mulhall, Mick Cahill, Frances Gamble, Amy Morrissey and Sarah Molloy.

The under-14 camogie girls are due to host Ballyhale Shamrocks on next Tuesday (21/7) in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League/Championship at the time of writing, while the minor girls will play Graignamanagh in their St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League/Championship in Jenkinstown on Thursday evening (23/7) at 7.00 p.m.
HURLING
The junior E hurlers narrowly lost out to St. Martin’s in the JJ Kavanagh Junior E Championship in Jenkinstown on Saturday last. The visitors led by 1-8 to 1-4 at half-time, the Conahy goal coming from Daniel Mooney. Conahy fought very hard in the second half, and managed to reduce the deficit to a single point, but St. Martin’s were able to score the final point of the game to win out by 1-14 to 1-12. Despite this loss, Conahy have still managed to qualify for the championship quarter-finals as the best ranked loser from the opening round, and will be back in action on the weekend after next.

The junior hurlers begin their league/championship campaign in earnest this weekend when they play Cloneen in their opening round of the JJ Kavanagh Premier Junior League in Castlecomer on Saturday at 1.00 p.m. Best of luck to all involved.
