The junior hurlers began their league/championship campaign with a hard fought win over a tough Cloneen side in their opening round of the JJ Kavanagh Premier Junior League in Castlecomer on Saturday. Despite conceding two early goals, the locals did well to respond with two goals of their own from Karl Downey and Mark Gunner. It was nip and tuck all through, but Conahy finished well to win out on a 2-23 to 2-18 score line. They will next face St. Patrick’s (Ballyragget) on Sunday next (2/8/26) in Freshford, with the starting time to be confirmed at the time of writing.

The junior B hurlers are due to play James Stephens on Tuesday night (28/7/26) in the JJ Kavanagh Junior B quarter-final in Jenkinstown at the time of writing. The junior E hurlers will also play on this Saturday afternoon at 2.00 p.m. in the JJ Kavanagh Junior E quarter-final away to Glenmore. Best of luck to all involved.

The minor hurlers will also play host to John Lockes (Callan) on Thursday night (30/7/26) at 7.00 p.m. in Jenkinstown in the Kilkenny Motor Centre Roinn B League.

CAMOGIE
The minor camogie girls lost out to Graignamanagh in a very entertaining and high scoring game in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League in Jenkinstown on Wednesday night last. The visitors were stronger, but Conahy battled hard all through. However, Graignamanagh emerged winners on a 4-17 to 5-5 score line.

TEAM: Katie Murphy, Sophie Conway, Emily Lawless, Emily Kennedy, Eva Kennedy, Ruth Carroll, Hannah Styles, Naomi Kerr, Mary Lou Rowe, Sarah Murphy, Rachel Mulhall, Clodagh Lawless, Caoimhe Mulhall.

Meanwhile, the under-14 camogie girls scored a great win in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League/Championship on Tuesday last in Jenkinstown. The girls put on a fine team performance to win out by 6-11 to 3-3.

The under-16 camogie girls are in action away to Carrickshock on Thursday night (30/7/26) at 7.00 p.m. in the Under-16 Roinn D Championship.

Hard luck to Ellen Gunner, Sofia Kerr and Emma Mulhall along with Eoin Murphy and David Dowling (Selectors) who were part of the Kilkenny Senior Camogie panel who were defeated by Galway in the Glen Dimplex All-Ireland Senior semi-final in Semple Stadium, Thurles on Saturday last.
