HURLING
The junior hurlers lost out to St. Patrick’s (Ballyragget) on Sunday evening last in Freshford in their latest game in the JJ Kavanagh Junior League. Conahy started well with two fine goals from James Bergin and Tom Phelan, and led by 2-7 to 0-9 at the break. However, the Ballyragget men dominated the final quarter to take the lead and eventually win out by 3-16 to 2-14. Conahy will next face Kilmacow on Sunday week, August 16th, at 5.00 p.m. in Bennettsbridge.

The junior B hurlers also lost out to James Stephens in the JJ Kavanagh Junior B quarter-final in Jenkinstown on Tuesday night last. The city side were the stronger team throughout despite a battling performance by Conahy, particularly in the second half. As it was, James Stephens emerged victors by 2-20 to 2-12.

The junior E hurlers also bowed out the JJ Kavanagh Junior E championship at the quarter-final stage, when they were narrowly defeated by Glenmore on Saturday afternoon last in Glenmore. The hosts led by 0-11 to 0-7 at half time, but an early second half goal from a Billy Mulhall free narrowed the gap. But Glenmore managed to hold out in the end for the win, emerging victorious by 0-18 to 1-12.

The minor hurlers did manage to score a good win over John Lockes on Thursday night last in Jenkinstown in the Kilkenny Motor Centre Roinn B League. A good team performance from start to finish saw Conahy win out by 3-22 to 1-9. They will be back in competitive action again in a few weeks time.

CAMOGIE
The minor camogie girls lost out to Mooncoin on Friday night last in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League in Mooncoin on Friday night last. It was a nip and tuck game all through but the home side emerged narrowly victorious on a 5-5 to 3-10 score line.

On Thursday evening, the under-16 girls enjoyed better fortune with a great win over Carrickshock in the St. Canice’s Credit Union Roinn D League/Championship in Hugginstown. Conahy produced best when it mattered to win out by 4-8 to 3-6. At the time of writing, the Conahy girls are due to play Lisdowney/St. Patrick’s on next Tuesday evening at 7.00 p.m. in Lisdowney.
